I Cannot Say No to Bagel Toppers from Hampton Inn Hotels

Breakfast Bagel Toppers with Picante Sauce

Hampton Inn Bagel Topper with Picante Sauce

I am a “road warrior” (such a cheesy term), living the majority of my work week on the road; sleeping in hotel rooms, traveling to and from home via an airplane and driving rental cars each week. In the 15 years I have traveled for work, I have my opinions on the best airlines, rental car companies, hotel providers and in turn the breakfast options that are served.

For the most part, hotels like Hampton Inn offer a mix of breakfast bar options that are both hot and cold. Very little of what is offered can be considered good and far from being called gourmet. Most mornings I will opt for some poorly brewed coffee and maybe a bowl of raisin bran and a banana if available.

The exception to my standard selection at a hotel breakfast bar is when I am staying at a Hampton Inn and they are serving their Bagel Toppers. I love them, never tire of them and eat more of them then I should. I would never consider purchasing a similar product in the frozen section of the grocery store to eat at home, but when on the road, I am sadly addicted to them.

So what is a Hampton Inn Bagel Topper? It is a half of a fake bagel topped with precooked scrambled eggs, cooked diced bacon and shredded cheddar cheese. The staff at the hotel heat these frozen breakfast delicacies and then serve them in warming pans at breakfast. Usually there are packets of mild picante (salsa) sauce available and I slather a packet or two of picante on top of each Bagel Topper. As mentioned, I eat more of them then I should and in the picture embedded in this post, there is evidence that I ate at least three that morning.

An on-line search using the combined phrases “hampton inn” “bagel toppers” generated 144 results. Based upon what I read, they are distributed by Sysco, but manufactured by Better Foods Baked Inc.. If you are not staying at a Hampton Inn that is serving Bagel Toppers that morning, you may be able to find them in the frozen section of the grocery store.

We stay at Hampton Inns often and we stayed one in California where they served the toppers!!!! They were so good!!!! We couldn’t stop eating them either. I would love to get some of these so we can have them for breakfast. I have four growing boys and usually we are in a hurry to get to school in the mornings. I think these would be a great to-go breakfast for us!!!! Thanks for sharing!

    1. Melinda,

Thank you for your comment. If you click on the embedded link: Better Foods Baked Inc. in the post you should be able to find a store near you that sells the same bagel toppers served by Hampton Inn. At a minimum, you may be able to order directly from the company.

These are very similar and taste just as good. I, like you, can’t lay off the bagel toppers even thought the fake egg gets to my stomach every time.

I am sorry you don’t like Hampton Inn coffee; it’s better, I think, than much of the hotel coffee out there! They have robust which is really good, always fresh and never sour.

We were at a Hampton Inn just last week for five delish breakfasts mornings, and I have to say we LOVE staying there simply because of these meals! Sure, the rooms are always clean and nice, and they offer pools, gyms, and will put fridges and microwaves in your rooms when asked at no extra expense, but our mornings are the best! My husband loves the sandwich described by Bill, but my sandwich is built upon one of their “you make it” waffles. The crispiness of this waffle makes for the perfect Sammy starter, and adds a nice flavor to your breakfast sandwich. Kudos for those who staff these bars too, they are always so customer friendly, run like crazy to fill and refill the quickly emptying pans, bins and trays, and washing tables, while cheerfully chatting with the guests. They will also share what’s behind that closed door kitchenette that makes the magic eggs, sausage, bacon, etc…

I work at the Hampton Inn in Oxford, Maine and when we make these they go like hot cakes! Glad to see all the positive replies about the hotels you have all stayed at. Here in Oxford we take great pride in our hotel and all of the staff is like one big family which if you ask me shows and every guest who stays is welcomed in to our family during their stay.
